Girls basketball on a roll with winning streak
Girls basketball continues the season with a winning record of 15-9. The girls are hoping to advance to Regionals after their remaining conference games.
Girls basketball is a fast sport, but keeping up with the other team isn’t a problem for the North Knights. Typically, the girls practice after school for two-three hours.
“Every practice is focused around getting better. We always work on our fundamental skills like layups and passing, no matter how late in the season it is,” said senior Jordan Queen.
The girls are dedicated to becoming better at basketball. They aspire to make it to Regionals and possibly State. As the year progresses, the girls become more and more prepared. The girls have won numerous amounts of games, including the game against Grant, Barrington, and Round Lake.
The girls won in overtime against Grant. The score was 47-45.
“Seeing the effort the team and coach puts in really shows in the games we watch. They’re devoted to putting on a show for the crowd,” said junior Shannon Keilwitz.
Making the audience go wild is just a part of the game. While Coach Robert Nicoletti leads the girls to victory, he makes plays and line-ups for the girls to be successful at the game.
“We want all the girls in our program to enjoy basketball and have fun, while also working hard and being a part of our school and the Grayslake community,” Nicoletti said.
Nicoletti makes sure the girls have a good experience for every game they play. The girls have their next game against Antioch Community High School on February 8th.
