Cheer team qualifies for State
The cheer team competed at Sectionals on Saturday, January 28, and placed second, securing their spot at State.
“We have worked so many hours this week. Last week on Friday we had our choreographer from San Fran come work with us, and then the other day we had him FaceTime with us. We have been working for this all year,” said junior Camryn Gunn.
Many say that this routine was the best they have done in any competition this year and are excited to see what comes next at State.
From day one, Sectionals has always been the final goal for us. All the work we put in throughout the year is for one three minute routine. These past two weeks have been pretty intense because it’s everything really has to come together for what could be our final performance.
“This was by far the best routine we have put on the floor in my three years of cheering. I’ve never felt that much energy in a performance and I wish I could live in those moments forever,” said junior Lauren Magri.
This next week they will be continuing to practice and prepare for State. The team will be competing in on Friday, February third and fourth.
“In order to prepare for State, we are just going to push ourselves even harder and really make sure we clean up our routine,” said sophomore Sadie Cassity.
The team has really come together this year in order to make this accomplishment happen. With new changes made the night before, they really had to push each other to accomplish this goal.
“Awards is always one of the most terrifying moments, because you can’t control the judges opinions. We left it all on the floor, so we all just kept telling each other how proud we all were no matter what. We were in the hardest sectional, so knowing we placed so well against such talented teams was so amazing,” Magri said.
