Freshman Class holds holiday party for kids
On Friday night, the Freshman Class had a holiday party in the cafeteria. Teachers and their kids and children from the community came and colored holiday pictures, played games, did crafts, face painting and took pictures with Santa. The Freshman Class Council, along with NHS and Junior Class Council helped organize and run the party.
“We helped the kids with their face paintings, crafts, and took pictures of them with Santa for their parents,” said Junior Class Council member Sage Lawson.
The class council handed out about 600 fliers to surrounding preschools and elementary schools, hoping to attract more kids.
“It was a great turn out. We had a lot of kids other than the teachers’ kids come, and it was really cool to see how happy they were playing games and taking pictures,” said Junior Class Council member Danielle Lacke.
The party was from 5:30 p.m until 8 p.m. The school’s choir came and sang holiday songs at 7 p.m. Later in the night, the Class Council raffled off prizes, and Santa read the kids a story while they enjoyed the donated Lovin Oven and Dalton Bakery cookies.
“We’re trying to raise money for Freshman Class. The idea is that it’ll follow us through their senior year to offset costs for prom,” said Freshman Class sponsor Evelyn Amelio.
