Girls golf team concludes season on a high note
The girls season ended in the Regional Tournament where the team beat three teams who had previously defeated them before.
One golfer, freshman Morgan Atwell, tied for 10th place as an individual and lost in the playoffs to advance to Sectionals.
As players, they set goals themselves to encourage themselves to work harder, a commitment toward achieving a personal goal.
“[One goal was] to definitely drop my score. Just to see how far my score has dropped in the past throughout the season, I really would like to drop it even more,” Atwell said.
“You are always trying to play better than the last time you played. When you mix in the pressure of playing against others, the weather, and the stress of missed school, the season as a whole represents a challenge,” Ewen said.
The players as a whole strived to improve throughout the season.
“My season went really well. I basically cut my score in half,” said senior Annie Watters.
Being a coach for any type of sport can become a great feeling as you learn, as well teach, many aspects. It turns out it can be an amazing outcome at the end.
“The most exciting thing for a coach is seeing everyone improve from week to week. When it all finally came together for us at Regionals, it was very exciting to be a part of it. The girls deserve all the credit. Coach New and I are there to help them however we can, but they are the ones who kept working hard even when we weren’t playing as well in the season,” Ewen said
