Girls golf sends one golfer to Sectionals
Hours of practice pays off as girls golf’s second year comes to an end. Varsity girls golf continued to Sectionals, and junior varsity comes to a close.
Senior golfer Kara Ahlemeyer placed in Sectionals and looked forward to the challenge.
“Golf has been such a memorable experience for me. I am confident in what we have as a team,” said senior Kara Ahlemeyer.
The team has seen improvement throughout the season from start to finish.
“Our goal was not wins and losses based, it was to be competitive. I believe we did that. By the end of the year, we were beating teams in every tournament,” said coach Scott Ewen.
Being a competitive team was the main goal of golf, but another aspect was seeing growth in the players as many players were starting with no previous experience.
“We see improvements every day in individual girls, but we really got to see everything come together at the Lakes Invite when we finished second out of seven teams and played our best,” Ewen said.
The tournaments provided unique experiences for the players, especially when they placed second in the Lakes Invite.
“Tournaments were really fun. I liked playing on the different courses, hanging out with my teammates, and seeing all the other teams,” said freshman Julianna Bennett.
