Athletes commit to continue their playing careers at collegiate level

As graduation approaches and the spring sports season comes to an end, it means most GNHS seniors will be at the end of playing sports. For some, though, their sports journey will continue.
Several athletes have signed with colleges. A few include: Titus Booker will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison to play football; Sammy Villwock will be attending South Dakota University to play soccer. Brenden Bolman will be attending Missouri State University to swim, and Sarah Littleton will be attending St. Francis University in Pennsylvania to bowl.
Many of the athletes started to compete/play their sport when they were little.
“I started bowling when I was eight years old because both of my parents were bowlers and they got me into the sport,” said Littleton, who averages about 215 per game. Her highest game is 300.
Some of the athletes have a set routine.
“Right now I practice about 6-7 times per week. In the summer, it jumps to 10-11 times per week. For training, I just work hard and have purpose to what I am working for,” Bolman said. Recently, he placed third at State in the 100 back.
Most of the athletes were also approached by different schools. Choosing a school can be a difficult task.
“I choose MSU because I really like the team, coaches, academic opportunities, as well as the swimming opportunities,” Bolman said.
As for the future, many of the athletes are looking forward to competing at the next level.
“Next year I am looking forward to competing at Missouri State and possibly competing at Olympic trials. I just want to have a successful college career, and if I am good enough after college, I would like to turn pro,” Bolman added.
