Boys basketball falls short of the Regional Championship after intense postseason play

The boys basketball team fell short of the Conference and Regional title, after a long playoff run.
The boys finished second in conference behind Prairie Ridge. The two teams split a record of 1-1 against each other, but the Knights had one more loss in conference play than the Wolves did. The Knights had made it to the Regional Championship, but they lost in overtime to Lake Park.
“It was disappointing to fall short of the Conference Championship, but we are really excited with the wins that we got in the playoffs,” said junior point guard Bobby Krebs.
The boys began their post-season play at Fremd High School against Grant Community High School. The Knights had beaten the Bulldogs 63-57 just a few weeks before. Again they had defeated Grant, but this time with a score of 65-59.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game. No team is going to take it easy in the playoffs,” said senior shooting guard Lee Bowen.
The Knights took on Fremd in the next round of the playoffs. Despite Fremd’s home court advantage, the team got some support from their student body. The boys were hoping to beat the number two seed Lake Park after a win against Fremd. “Fremd and Lake Park were tough competition, but we really believed we were clicking at the right time,” said junior Joe Geary.
Unfortunately the team fell short to Lake Park after a hard fought game. The Knights had to play their final game without starting forward Dom DiProva. It was a close game in the Regional Championship, but the overtime score of 54-50 did not favor the Knights.
