Review: A Tale of 2 Sons
Brothers is an indie-adventure game that will leave you breathless by its beautiful scenery and storyline. Successful YouTuber, Pewdiepie, says, “It’s like going on an actual adventure.”
The game is based in an old village where younger brother Naiee and older brother Naia live with their father. The first sequence begins with a cut scene of Naiee mourning his mother who drowned at sea, but then he hears Naia calling for him. Their father has fallen sick, and they cannot lose the last shred of family they have left.
On their adventure to save their father, they encounter hundreds of puzzles and challenges, as does the gamer. This game is not like others of its genre. In order to understand the amount of teamwork needed for the brothers to complete their journey, the player must use both sides of their controller in order to control the brothers separately. This adds more challenge and creativity to the game-play.
Each brother has their own strengths and weaknesses. Since Naiee was very close to his mother and so young when she passed, he cannot swim. In the cases he needs to cross water, he climbs upon his trustful brother’s back. Naia, on the other hand, is bad at music and often causes characters to react negatively while interacting with them. The boys’ personality traits make it easy for players to fall for the storyline.
Overall, I’ve found Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons to be one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever taken part in. It paints miraculous counts of imagery that leaves you hopelessly devoted ‘till the end.
