Parker Lawson, Valerie Attwood and Shaye Hutson auditioned for America’s Got Talent on Jan.25. The three girls have high hopes for making it to the televised portion of the season and continue on in the competition.
Attwood and Hutson both sang for their 90 second audition in front of other hopeful singers after waiting many hours in McCormick Place.
“I practiced, waited, and talked to some new people for 5 and 1/2 hours and got in front of the producer with 11 other people in the room. I sang for 90 seconds and then was on my way! It was nerve-racking, but a total self-esteem booster having the guts to do that,” Attwood said.
The long wait included a lot of cameras and many new faces.Lawson danced for the producers and other contestants with her Irish dance company.
“The room was just like it is on TV: signs everywhere that say ‘America’s Got Talent’, mirrors with Hollywood lights, practice stages, and cameras everywhere. We danced on the practice floor and were watched by hundreds of amazingly talented people,” Lawson said.
The girls experienced a bit of stage fright but were happy to have an opportunity to make their dreams come true.
“If I don’t make it, I won’t be really disappointed. I’ll just see it as a way to get better and look at how I can improve,” Hutson said.
