Poms team performs at Conference, Sectionals

The poms team placed tenth at Sectionals and are now looking to improve for the next year.
The team accomplished many of their goals this season.
“Our most successful event this season was [January 14] when we got second place at Conference Championships,” said coach Keely Thode.
The team has created goals for upcoming years so that they can be organized and at a better advantage than before.
“Our team has many goals, but I personally think our biggest goal is to go out on the floor at every performance and give it our all. We work extremely hard for each performance, so when we get to perform, our goal is to show everyone in the audience, and ourselves, how hard we worked for that,” said sophomore Lauren Engert.
Thode has also set goals for the dancers to help them achieve success and has high hopes to push them harder.
“Our goal for the season is for each individual dancer to improve technique. While it is always our goal to qualify for the State competition, there are several other important aspects of dance besides winning,” Thode said.
As with any performance, practice makes perfect. The poms team practices every day after school to better themselves for the next event or competition.
“We work hard at practice and dedicate the time to improve ourselves and push one another,” said junior Paulina Lopez.
The team has many plans for the future. They hope to place higher at competitions with the next set of dancers.
“[We want] to prepare for the future and new coming team. We know if we want to get to State, we are going to have to put in extra work so in the future we are ready to take on any challenges that come our way,” Lopez said.
