Boxtrolls

Boxtrolls, a 3D stop motion animated film, was produced by Laika.
This film is a 3D stop motion animated film and is completely made out of photos. Viewers are watching a role of thousands of photos. The characters and objects are moved little at a time in between each frame to create the effect that they are moving. The characters and objects are all made out of different materials like clay. Each character has about 20 versions of themselves that are slightly different. The whole production is just amazing. All of the time, patience, and effort for just one character is astonishing. The development of the film started in 2008.
Laika is an American stop motion animation studio. The co-founder of Nike, Phil Knight, owns the studio. Some of their famous work include Caroline and ParaNorman.
Now, on to what it is about. Boxtrolls is about a boy named Eggs and his adventure from underground. Eggs was raised by boxtrolls who collect nic nacs and trash; they live underground beneath the town. Boxtrolls are viewed as horrible, vicious creatures. The townspeople absolutely fear them. The townspeople fear them so much that they even have troll exterminators. The leader of the exterminators and the town villain, Archibald Snatche, is capturing all of the boxtrolls. Egg must save his family and friends from Archibald.
Boxtrolls is refreshing. It is not the like the average kid movie. Some kids may not understand what’s going on. It is slightly dark and witty. But none the less, it has a great storyline, cute and fun characters with different lively actors like Tracy Morgan and Ben Kingsley, and of course, awesome graphics.
I highly recommend this movie. I would watch it again.
