Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour continues to stun and captivate fans as her tour makes its way through the world. The tour creates incredible memories for Swifties, Taylor Swift fans who attend, and is a concert filled with nostalgia.
The Eras Tour is Swift’s sixth concert tour, which debuted in March of 2023 and is set to end in Dec. of 2024. This tour has become one of the highest-grossing tours ever in history. The American singer-songwriter just finished the European leg of the tour and will resume the final leg back in the United States in October, and then its final shows in Canada.
The concert itself lasts over three hours and showcases more than 45 of her songs. The setlist songs range from all of her albums throughout the years, hence “The Eras Tour”, as it takes one through most of her whole career discography.
“It pulls a lot of people from a lot of Eras, so there’s definitely a lot of people from all ages,” commented senior Robyn George, who attended one of the London shows. “From those who listened to her when she first started to now her newer fans of The Tortured Poets Department.”
The concert itself is divided into ten acts. In each act, Swift has a different outfit and her visuals on the screen are different. To make each concert unique and even more memorable, Taylor Swift has an “Acoustic Section” where she sings two songs, one on piano and the other on guitar. These songs however, tend to be songs not included in the setlist which is why they are called “surprise songs”. These songs can be from any of her albums and can be mash-ups ranging from two to three songs.
Senior Briana Pagac, who attended a Denver show, expressed that “[She] liked the surprise songs the most as they were super fun along with the little talks [Taylor Swift] does with them.”
Swift also released The Eras Tour Concert film in October 2023. The film consists of the whole show footage from the Los Angeles shows. The film premiered in theaters worldwide.
Swift was set to perform in Vienna, Austria earlier in August, but the three shows in that city were canceled, due to a planned terrorist attack. The two subjects were arrested later and after further investigation, authorities found evidence of the subjects’ “plan to attack.” These shows are the first ones to be canceled in the tour so far. Even so, despite the canceled shows, Swifties who planned to attend those shows, turned to the internet and celebrated with music and positivity.
Each venue that Swift performs in varies in capacity but the minimum is about 40,000 people. It is understandable if people might not feel comfortable surrounded by that many people. Regardless of this, fans who have attended the show recall a sense of safeness in the venue.
“The biggest takeaway from the show aside from Taylor Swift was the feeling of feeling safe among the thousands and thousands of people,” recalled history teacher Denise Franta, who attended a Chicago show.
After the show, fans are left amazed, wonderstruck, and saddened that the show is over.
“It feels like a judgment free zone,” said Erin Wise, who attended the show along with Franta. “You’re able to be yourself, wear what you want, sing as loud as you want, and have that support around you.”
The show is still not quite over yet but it will be exciting to see what else Taylor Swift will surprise her audience with. Whatever it may be, it will make memories worth holding on to.
