Prom was held on Saturday, May 4 at the Chevy Chase Country Club. There was a lot to be excited about.
“Prom was great this year. We were at a beautiful location (Chevy Chase Country Club). We had delicious food, a great DJ, photo booth, and more! We want to leave some things a surprise,” said sponsor Jennifer Garza.
Prom is an event that juniors and seniors look forward to, but especially the seniors since it will be their last high school dance ever. But planning prom can be stressful.
“Mrs. Iverson and I share tasks when it comes to planning prom and the duties leading up to prom. It is really like planning a wedding – we have a very long checklist of things that have to be done and different points in the year. First we start with the date and location. Next, we book the big vendors: DJ, photo booth, etc. As the date gets closer, we start ordering decorations, finalizing menus, and organizing ticket sales. There are a lot of small details that come up with planning that we tackle as we go,” Garza said.
Planning prom isn’t the only thing to be stressed about because students are shopping for their dresses and suits months in advance.
“I actually went to eight different dress shops and tried on about 25 dresses until I found the one I ordered online and didn’t like those either. So I just had to like, you know, keep going and trying stuff on,” said senior Sydney Grant.
Prom should be a good time for many people, but music is a big part of making prom fun, especially having a good DJ mixing in a variety of music so people can enjoy it.
“I hoped to listen to classic rock,” said senior Sam Callavari.
Prom was a lifelong memory for many, especially for seniors.
“Prom was very fun, but at the same time it was very hot and sweaty,” said senior Jose Munoz.
