Shelli Williams is retiring as a teacher of a variety of classes like aerobics, zero hours, and not to mention her everyday P.E. classes.
After so many years working with students, Williams has connected with many, and the impact she has provided is not going to be forgotten. After 32 years as a P.E. teacher, 12 of them at Grayslake North, Williams will take her well-deserved retirement.
Williams mentioned that she is very excited about retirement, opening the door to travel and see more of the world. Even with all the fun ahead, she is sad to let go of her students, and she will miss her co-workers and friends on staff here at Grayslake North
“I am very excited for my retirement. I am going to miss everyone. I have friends on the staff, and I’m going to miss all the students. It’s been great, but I’m ready to move on,” Williams said.
Williams’ students will of course miss her and her great teaching. Williams will not only be missed for her teaching but also for the connection she built with her students, trying to understand them and listen.
“I have Mrs. Williams for P.E. I think she’s a great teacher, and I feel like she connects with her students and like tries to understand them and form a connection,” said senior Emily Janowski.
As well as being a great influence and a mentor for students, she has also been praised for her attitude by co-workers. She is known to be positive and kind while also being focused and devoting time to her classes.
“Mrs. Williams is always a fun person to be around. She raises the spirits of everyone around her and always makes me laugh. She has a great demeanor about her. Going to miss her next year!” said Jessica Nabat.
