The boys wrestling team had maintained strict focus and strong determination to make every match count and look to qualify for State and get better every day.
The students on the Wrestling team have made sure to maintain a strict focus on their goals such as getting ready for State and other goals they have for their season.
“I hope to get to State next season and then place in the top eight,” junior Jake Ronsman said.
Wrestlers on the team plan on making each practice important. They’re making sure everyone is trying their best and not leaving anything at home and leaving it all on the mat every day. They aren’t only looking to improve their personal skills but also their teammates skills as well.
“I try to help my teammates by beating them in practice so they get better every day,” Ronsman said.
Wrestlers on the team have made sure that in order to complete their goals they prepare and make sure every second of training isn’t wasted. There, making sure every little detail is taken into account when preparing for every match and preparing to qualify for State.
“I plan on learning every day by focusing more on drilling, lifting, and running,” sophomore Diego Cordova said.
A lot of things are taken into account when preparing for a match. It can be many things, but one of the main factors is listening to music. Music is the main way wrestlers get into the focused and good mood of preparing for a match.
“Music for matches or practice is very important and always gets me motivated no matter what mood I’m in,” Cordova said.
Guys on the team have always been inspired by certain athletes or wrestlers and are looking to achieve similar goals that these athletes have achieved in the past. It has been important on how they plan to improve for next year.
“One of the main athletes I look up to is UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards,” sophomore Saruni Kisiongo said.
Wrestlers have also made their mindset an essential part in strengthening their mental skills and physical skills. Part of this is mentally and physically preparing for cutting weight for matches.
“Cutting weight is very tough because you are always tired,” Kisiongo said.
