Students and Teachers prepare for the March musical, “Punk Rock Girl!”, as the school semester comes to an end.
A lot of time and effort goes into the process of auditioning for character and interviewing to be a crew head. Students have to memorize lines and prepare for the role that is best for them.
“So I prepared by picking a monologue and then a song for the audition,” said senior Brody Mooremenier. “And I basically just sang the song over and over again, and Mr. Moberg our choir and vocal director, helped me as well.”
There are different ways that students prepare for their interviews and auditions. They practice their vocals, their lines, and different choreography. A lot of time and effort goes into this process.
“So we did a workshop on a weekend where we went over music, vocal styles. We went over choreography and different monologues that would be useful for the actors as they prep for the auditions,” Moberg said.
Crew members can interview to be crew head, meaning they are in charge of a certain part of the stage crew like sounds and lighting.
“They mainly ask you about your experience and how you think you would be as crew head,” said senior Grace Merki, who got the role as tech crew head.
Overall, auditions and interviews went really well, and rehearsals start right after winter break for members of the musical. “Punk Rock Girl” premieres on the seventh, eighth, and ninth of March.
