North swimmers swim at sectionals
Two swimmers swam for North at Sectionals on November 5.
Freshman Ariana Selea is one of the school’s swimmers that represents Grayslake North by competing in IHSA swimming competitions, and she has stated that swimming for Grayslake North High School was one of her best seasons swimming by far.
“The season swimming for Grayslake North was by far one of my favorite seasons I have swum,” Selea said.
She says that her favorite memory was competing at Sectionals while on varsity.
“The best moments that I made while I was in the team were definitely competing in Sectionals. It is safe
to say that I had no bad memories while swimming,” Selea said.
Not having any bad experiences or memories during this season is impressive considering how long Selea’s swimming career has been. Selea has stated that her swimming career has been as long as nine years.
“I have been swimming with Hastings Lake Stingrays for over nine years on the team,” Selea said.
Senior Allyson Kubik says that her season went well, and even though they only had one practice, she’s still glad that she got to meet Ariana Selea.
“So I thought the season went well. We only had one meet and no practices as a team. It’s all just on your own, but I loved meeting Ari who was the only other swimmer,” Kubik said.
“I would say that the best moment was being able to compete,” Kubik said. “One of the worst moments was the anticipation before you jumped off the block.”
All athletes work to make themselves better throughout their seasons.
“I feel like my drive to make myself better as a person and as an athlete helped me the most,” Kubik said.
