Juniors prepare for the upcoming SAT
The practice SAT took place last week where juniors took a mock version of the SAT which they will be taking in spring.
The practice test provided a way for students to prepare and get a feel for the real test that will be taking place over the course of two days, April 13 and 14.
“For preparing, we offer the SAT prep course. This is the first year that it’s free of charge. I think students should take advantage of that if they’re able to. Another good resource that’s huge is Khan Academy. I know the computers here at this school can’t access Khan Academy due to the new guidelines, but if you have computers at home, I highly recommend logging in and taking some of those practice tests,” said Grayslake North’s test coordinator Rachel Burnette.
Now having first-hand experience of what to expect from the test, juniors who took the test are developing strategies to help them further in the spring
“For the essay, I could make sure to plan everything out and use your time wisely. I think that’s the biggest thing just using your time wisely and the way you answer multiple-choice questions,” said junior Christopher O’Neil.
Students this year have a lot of options given to them by the school and online resources to help prepare for the SAT and studying as well as trying your best is fundamental.
“Just study. I think that’s the most important thing because the SAT is coming up soon,” said junior Christopher Palacio.
