Three swimmers compete for North

Three North swimmers compete at Sectionals.

Three female swimmers competed for North at Sectionals on November 6. They were sophomore Anastasia Abel, senior Cassia Campbell, and freshman Dakota McLester.

Unfortunately, no one place, but they did try their best. They had some pretty fast times for the swim meet, which the members were proud of.

“I had a 0.72 second drop on my 100 freestyle at Sectionals, going a 1:02.10, which I was proud of,” senior Cassie Campbell said.

“I swam really well at the swim meet,” said freshman Dakota McLester.

Even though the swim team has been a fall sport for a while, there are not many members.

Unfortunately, they do not have an officially sanctioned team which would allow the members to practice together, but all swim team members are still trying to improve their previous scores.

After this year, there will only be two team members left. Even though the team only has three members now, they are still strong competitors who finish with fast times.

“It would definitely be great if we had an officially sanctioned team that practiced together, but being a three woman team is also fun and works well,” Cambell said.

To prepare for these Sectional competitions the team has to be in good physical shape and also eating a healthy diet to perform their best while swimming. Planning and preparation are the keys for team members to be in position to perform their best at the tournament.

“I was pretty well prepared for Sectionals this year. I rested on a two week drop taper, which helped my body to recover but maintain peak performance in order to perform at my best,” Campbell said.
