Two seniors earn Eagle Scout rank
Seniors Max Kreiger and Jack Dirig are both Eagle Scouts at Grayslake North. They acquired the Eagle rank as a sign of responsibility.
Kreiger has been an Eagle Scout since May 21, 2018, from 8th grade to his senior year. Dirig has been an Eagle Scout since the summer of last year. To become an Eagle Scout one has to go through many hours of hard work and helping the community.
“You have to complete all the ranks before becoming an Eagle Scout. You also have to complete around 20 merit badges and you have to do your final project,” Krieger said.
Kreiger was able to get his Eagle Scout rank when he was in 8th grade.
“It took me a little under three and a half years. My final project was the text-a-tip seminar and PSA at Palombi Middle School, and it was also shown at Grant, Warren and a few other local schools,” Kreiger said.
When Dirig was just 15, he earned his Eagle Scout rank. He did this by always being a productive member in society and was recognized for always being ready to help someone.
“My Eagle Scout project was to build a playground border around one of the caboose parks,” Dirig said.
Kreiger always tries to stay active and has a very busy schedule that starts with him waking up at 5:00 a.m.
“Most days I wake up at 5 to 5:15 in the morning and I go to the gym until around 8 o’clock. Then from 8-8:15 I go to school and after school I have a sport or activity. Right now it’s cross country, and later in the year it is wrestling and lacrosse,” Kreiger said.
Kreiger’s Eagle project won him the “Top Eagle Scout Project.”
