Cross country team prepares for Conference, State meets

October 28, 2015

As cross country season comes to a close, some runners are preparing for a run at State while others are busy staying in shape and preparing for their next sport or the off-season.
The team has been hard at work all season working on lowering times in preparation for Conference and State.
“The team is really starting to peak and run at its full potential, considering that we’ve all been pushing ourselves to our limits every single practice,” said varsity runner Valery Zamora.
Individual goals for the runners vary. Many are extremely ready to compete with their hardest competition yet at the upcoming Conference and State meets.
“I’m definitely looking forward to Conference and the bigger invites. It’s a good way for us to compete with the girls around us. Hopefully, we can all let the competition push us into dropping to faster times,” Zamora said.
The boys team is training and competing constantly to improve and score higher against the competition.
“We have a couple of boys on our team who have a great shot at going All-Conference and even a few who have a chance at State. We’re looking forward to see what we can do at Conference,” said varsity runner Liam O’Connell.
It’s been a successful season so far for cross country, and the runners can’t wait to prove themselves at Conference.
“Overall, it was a great season. I can’t wait to keep competing and improving especially during track season and see what more I can do next season,” said varsity runner Jacque Garza.
